CYCLING.
A good number of cyclists are at present in training for the second race for the Townley Cup, is to bo held on Thursday next. The coureo will be front the corner of Grey street to the Ormond hotel and back. Entries close to-night, and the handicaps will appear in Monday’s “Times.” About fifteen entries are expected. A feature of tlio race will be the number of brothers competing, there being three M ilkinsons, two Astons, and two Davises, while H. Anderson and his son will -also start. On Tuesday night Messrs. M bitfield and Mui’doon rode through to Wairoa, returning on Thursday night. They had a good trip, the roads being in good condition, though dusty. Messrs Hodgson and H. Anderson recently imported motor cycles suitable for hill-climbing, and t-liey intend to make the journey to Opotrki hi a week or two. To-morrow they will endeavor to get to Tiniroto and back.
