ROWING.
The Busckc iSculla races (Gisborne Club) were finished lasl Saturday, ending in a win for E. Lull-roll. The hiindioappo-r evidently sought to give the veil ngor roweis of the club achance, anil ii would appear that lie let them in rather too easily. This was apparent when the first ‘round had been rowed. Dustin (scratch) managed to beat Cumming (20 see), but in tho next race E. Luttrell (.‘35 ,;ec) was -altogether too good for Doyly (15 see) on the handicaps. An unfortunate feature of the races was that Kershaw (5 see) was unable to row in ill is race against Coleman (20 see). It is generally considered that he would have beaten Coleman, and that in his second-round race with Dustin lie would have provided a dose and exciting race. .Buceke (L 5 sec) heat V. Luttrell (2d see), anil, without saying anyth'll.; against Buseke, who is an excellent sculler when in form, it is cuas.uleri d that il Luttrell had taken the trouble to do a little more training lie would have run into the liiKils. In the semi-final E. Luttrell won easily from Buseke, and Coleman heat jJU--:-tiu alter a hard race. The final, as before stated, was won by E. Luttrell, wlio thoroughly deservnl bis win, lie having trained well. Ilis win should prove an incentive to ether young rowers. If is expected that the cracks will properly “wake up” for the Schumacher Fours, the entry-list for which is now filling fast.
