CYCLING.
The excellent entry of twenty has been received for the second load race to be run to-morrow for A;r. J. Townloy’s cup. The race will start at 4 p.m. from the corner of Grey steet and Gladstone -rood, and the course will be to Ormond and back; the finish being at tile .starling point. * The handicappcr, -Mr. AY. Howard, has made a very fair adjustment of the starts, and the winner is at present hard to pick. The men with small starts will have to be considered, but -among the men with bigger starts ill. Davies (210) see, L. Tate (300 see) and Ibangipai (500 sec) may be found coming in among the earliest. The sport seems now to have “caught on” well, and no doubt there will be a good crowd to witness to-morrow’s finish. Air. Anderson is to he commended for promoting the road races; and if a good number are provided there ’ can be little doubtthat in time we will have a good cycle racing trick in Gisborne.
