A MINISTER’S IIALF-TRUTII
[To the Editor.]
Sir.—J notice that the New Zealand Times quotes a paragraph from your paper with reference to a .statement made by the Hon. Air MbNab on the subject of Land ilioa.nl Elections. Mr McNab is reported to li ivo said: “Tho first Land Board election was at Nelson, where they re-elected the Government nominee, and similar confidence in the former Government appointments is being shown in other places.”
It did not occur to the Minister to state that the only other election that had been held at the time of his remarks was kbit in Marlborough, where the candidate at the top of the poll is a bitter opponent of the Government (having been an Opposition candidate at the elections of 1902 and 1905) and was a few years ago removed bv the Government from his position as a member of the Laud Board on account of iiis opposition. Straws show how the wind blows, and the Crown tenants of Marlborough don’t intend to make any mistake at the next election for M.H.R. 1 am, etc., MARLBOROUGLI CROWN 'TENANT
