PROPOSED DAIRY SCHOOL.
MINISTER FOR LANDS AT FEILD ING.
Press Association. FEILDING, Feb. 10
The Hon. It. AlcNab arrived at Feilding by the noon train to-day to inspect the proposed 6ite, offered by Air. F. Y. Lethbridge, AI.P., for a dairy school. After being taken over part of the district in a motor car, the Alinister received a deputation on the matter. Air. Fred Pirani laid before him the advantage of tho Feilding district for a dairy school, and showed the output of the district to bo four thousand tons of butter and cheese annually. The dairy cattle in tho district were valued at £125,000.
The Alinister, in reply, said that the result would be made known in a few days. Ho explained the object of the school to be to teach people to produce an article commanding tho top price in the London market. He said that the school might become an advantage to the whole Dominion. It was very pleasing to the Government to see great interest being taken in the dairy school, as no country had done what New Zealand had-done for tho dairy industry. AA r hen the work of the dairy school was developed they would go in for the work of a chemist and bacteriologist, and the extreme form of education in dairying. He hoped to see the day come when they would be able to challenge the work done in any similar institution, except in Britain and America. The- Alinister left for AYanganui tonight.
