BAPTIST TABERNACLE.
WELCOME TO THE REAL \Y. LAMB. Last evening, at the Baptist Tabernacle, a large number of adherents and friends gathered to formally welcome the Rev. Mr. Lamb, the lieu pastor. Captain Gumming occupied the chair. The Rev. L. I). Thomas sent a letter of apology for absence. Addresses of welcome were delivered by the'Revs. E. A. K.irwood, of Auckland, representing the_ Baptist Union of New Zetland; \\. Grant, C. Griffin, R. S. Gray (secretary of the Union), A, North (secretary of the Auckland Auxiliary), of -which organisation this church forms a part,- and Adjutant Dickens, Captain Gumming, and Mr. H. G. Blackie. In the course of his remarks, Mr. North referred to Air. H. M. Smeeton’s generosity in regard to the building. Air. Kinvood made reference-to the work done diming the interim lietween the .building of the church and its being taken over by the Union by Captain Gumming and Messrs. F. Hall, H. Al. Saneeton, and H. G. Blackie. . . . During the evening musical Rems were rendered by the following ladies and gentlemen: —Airs. Rliine-Kin-ith, Miss Glover, Air. East, Air. H. J. Brownlee, Air. Mitchell, a violin solo by Master Rliinesmitli, and a flute solo by Air. Blackie. Air. -Lamb suitably responded, returning itli:uiks for tlm warm and hearty welcome he had received. Refreshments were served -by the ladies of the- church and congregation. I-V The gathering closed with the Doxology.
