WAIAPU COUNTY COUNCIL.
MONTHLY MEETING. (from our correspondent.) WAIPIRO, Feb. 27. A meeting of the Waiapu County Council was he! 1 at Waipiro on the 26th inst., when all the councillors were present. A letter was received from Mr. Arthur Lord, cla ming compensation for an accident .sustained, and after discussion it wa resolved that a doctor’s certificate to that effect should he obtained. The settlers s t Port Awanui wrote thanking the C -- incil for the consideration given to heir request respecting the Waiapu bridge. A communi - cation was rec- ved from .the secretary of the Mar'.ie Department, Wellington, asking for information regarding Tokom; ru Bay. The Clerk was instructed to reply, and to forward the required information. Tho Commissioner of Crown Lands forwarded a schedule of “thirds” and “fourths,” which was duly approved by the Council. Mr. Holt, of Wlnngaparaoa, wrote regarding the road between, Tuparo.i and Waipiro, and die Engineer was instructed to ascertain the necessary repairs,. The Engineer's report was read ■iid considered. . . Cr. Knox proposed that the Waia.u bridge be coi xtructed at the Tikiiki site, and pi amendment was proposed by Cr. De Lautour that.tho Vairoa site be chosen. This amendment found no seconder, and the oriinal motion was put and carried. , The Council agreed, on the motion .f Cr. Murphy, that the road from ‘onnelly’s to the footbridge be rearmed. _ Cr. De Lautour proposed, that - a ■pad be surveyed from Kopuapouna,iu to Whangap iraoa, on the inland rack. Cr. Knox seconded this, and he motion was carried.
Accounts for payment amounting a £I6OO were passed, and the meet-5 lg then terminated.
