The meeting of the provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union to havo been held yesterday lapsed for want of a quorum. Owing to delay in Napier tho Monowai will bo late in arriving this morning, and the last launch has been fixed for noon.
In connection with the production of “The Morals of Marcus” at His Majesty’s to-night there will he a lato train leaving for all country stations at. 10.45 p.m.
A Press Association telegram from Blonhoiin states that tho bakers of Blenheim have unanimously decided to adopt a strict cash system on the lines followed at- Gisborno and Palmerston.
Yesterday morning a young man was committed to tho Avondale Mental Asylum by Mr W. A. Barton, S.M. He recently arrived from south and developed typhoid fever, and though h erccovered from tho fever, the illness affected his mind.
At Wesley Church to-morrow Mr. Frazer will preach ,in tlie morning. Rev. C. Griffin’s subject in the evening is “The Wonder-Working Name.” The United Bible Class will meet in the afternoon. Mr. Griffin will conduct servico at AVaimata in the morning.
The following pupils prepared by Miss Fisheiiden were successful at the last inusica lexamination held in connection with Trinity College of Music London: Nora Hamon 93 (honors), Jean Habgood 93, Georee Hay 90, Mary Reidy 82, Rubv Gordon 74, Nora Connell 64, Dot Hyland 64.
The Lenten services to be held in tho Parish of Holy Trinity are advertised. The A'icar is giving a double course of addresses -in tlie church. The morning subject is, “Somo LesserKnown Friends of tho Master.” In tho evening the A r icar speaks on “Tlie Lord’s Prayer: Its Message for our Times.” A hearty welcome is issued to all parishioners and residents. At tho Salvation Army Barracks to-morrow the usual services will be conducted by Adjutant Dickens, assisted by Captain Adams, and will hoof a bright, instructive, and cheerful nature. In tho evening tho Adjutant will take for his subject “Tho Three Brave Men.” A hearty welcome is extended to all for these services, and non-eliurch-goors will he especially welcomed.
A a meeting of the Holy Trinity Ladies’ Guild was held yesterday afternoon. The balance-sheet submitted showed a good credit balnneo to carry forward. Tho following officers were -elected:—President, Mrs H. W. AVilliams; vice-Presidents, Mesdames DeLautour and AA T ilson; Mrs Hughes, secretary and treasurer ; committee, Mesdames Ivissling, Haultaine, Goffe, Ackroyd, and Miss Brookc-Taylor.
