AUCKLAND HARBOR BOARD.
PROPOSED LARGE LOAN.
Press Association. AUCKLAND, March 13. An important report was submitted at a meeting of the Harbor Board in committee this afternoon. It, was from the sub-committee appointed to consider financial questions, with a view to an extensive scheme of liarbor improvements, necessitated by the rapid growth of the trade _of the port. The recommendation involved the raising of a £1,000,000 loan, and it is stated that the interest on that large sum can be met without in any way increasing the port charges. Among the works recommended are an eastern breakwater, £150,000; eastern railway wharf, 1200 feet long, £144,000; completion of Queen Street wharf. £91,000; quay eastward of Freezing Companys reclamation, £63000; Ferry offices and buildings, £50,000; dredging apuliances, £48,000; Freeman’s Bay reclamation, £43,000; floating crane, £30,000.
