Ponsford beat Martin by 22 to 1-1, and Witty never gave Hennessy a chance, winning by 32 to 7. Hennessy was unfortunate in losing the services of Seymour (2) at a critical moment and was compelled io finish ; the game with two men, 1 and 3 play- K ing an extra bowl. The team to represent the Gisborne club at the Napier G mvival will be composed of F. A. Martin, W. j. Hennessy, J. Martin and another. Unfortunately Mr J. Co’.enmn, who was looked to to represent the club', is unable through pressure of business to get away. . However, the present combination are aitfcfied that they can procure the servicer; of of another capable player, and. that' they will give a good account of themselves in Napier. There are 21 entries.in the Gisborne club's Champion Singles, ■md an exciting .contest is confidently looked forward to. The placers are dividfd into three sections of seven each. . Each player meets every player in his section, and the winners or the sections play the final. Th::; ws.l take some time, hut all the entrants <irc eager to play, and it is not expected that the competition v.MI drag.
