Tho carnival bowling tournament was continued to-day, though interrupted by occasional heavy showers. Tlio final of the rink matches was won by the St. John’s (Wanganui) team, who beat Gisborne by 23 to 21. In the pairs matches Martin and Martin 25 beat Crowley and Beatson 19, Terry and Sinnn 2-1 beat Porteous and Gooder IS, Bull and Yates 26 beat Williamson and Ricketts 12, Bull and Yates 25 beat Terry and Sinnn 24. This leaves Martin and Martin, Dean and Tabuteau, Cowell and Williams, and Yates and Bull to play off for the first position. A knock-out rink matelp for trophies presented by Mr. Neal, of Messrs Close Ltd., was commenced, when Crowley’s team 22 beat Rev. J. W. Hayward’s team 12, Williams’ team 20 beat Lands’ (Hastings) team 15, Tabuteau’s team 17 beat J. P. Smith’s team 10, Rickett’s team 30 beat Beatson’s (Hastings) team 15, St. John’s team 22 beat Kennedy’s team 6, Bull’s team 20 beat F. G. Smith team 16, Williams’ team 21 beat Porteous* team 10.

GISBORNE LOSES THE FINAL. (Special to “Times”.) NAPIER, March 23. Tho finish for the bowling tournamont was very unsatisfactory* the weather being wretched from a bowler’s point of view. AVe started at 9 a m. and when the Bth head was played, the scores read Wanganui 6, Gisborne 4. After innumerable adjournments, caused through the heavy showers, we were obliged to discontinue at 12.20, the scores then being Wanganui IJ, Gisborne 6. , , , . At 2 p.m. we made a iresh start, the scores eventually reading IV an garni i 23, Gisborne 21. Wo put up a good fight under tlio adverse circumstances, and have again to be satisfied with second honors.
