CREDITORS PETITIONING FOR WINDING UP.

United Press Association—Copvriglit. LONDON, March'2s. The Barclay Company of bankers, who are creditors to tho extent of a. quarter of a million, are petitioning for the compulsory winding un of the business of Sir James Laing and Sons. The „Barclays allege that the balance-sheet of 1900, showing a profit, induced them to advance £IOO,000. Laings immediately paid a dividend of 50 per cent. Barclays in July last advanced another £IOO,000', and £SOOO more last February. Laings suspended three days later. Laings allege that .they had unexpected losses exceeding £200,000, which the bank knew of. The ease is proceeding.
