ENTERTAINMENTS.

WEST’S PICTURES AND THE BRESCIANS. A’hat wonders the cinematograph lias accomplished in the realms of imagination I Natural laws seem turned topsv-turvy, so wonderful and so strange are some of tho devices; objects are materialised from empty space, and human forms and faces are seen to grow out of the ambient air, and as mysteriously melt into tho unknown; dreams of tho scientist take shape, and realism and imagination wanders at will through ocean depths and starry heights, beholding optical symphonies of extraordinary beauty and color, and visions of inexpressible grandeur. Hundreds of clever brains are constantly employed working out plots and stories for pictorial illustration, and Mr. T. J. West’s extensive repertoire comprises dramatic, romantic, sensational, and pathetic incidents powerfully portrayed and produced with a realism that almost surpasses belief. In a lighter vein are presented humorous and farcical episodes and adventuresof the most diverting and laughterprovoking character, and in which mirth, merriment, and fun roign supreme. The Brescians are a section of the entertainment from which enjoyment is also derived. The car is charmed, though at the same time there is much to please tho eye, for appearing, as they do, in an artistic stage costume, tho Brescians have indeed a very charming appearance, and their music is sweetness itself.
