At the inquest on tho circumstances surrounding the death of Alexander Brown, deceased’s stepdaughter deposed that five weeks before his death Brown visited her, and said he was suffering from influenza, and was going to stay with the Baikies, friends whom ho had been in tho habit of visiting for a long time-. The next time she saw Brown was in tho hospital the day before his death His limbs appeared to be paralysed, and he told witness that his jewellery was safe with the Baikies, where witness afterwards saw broken bonds and other property. A nurse at the hospital stated that Baikio asked Brown if anything happened would he give her his mgs. Brown .answered Yes. Uaikie brought deceased cake and truit. The detective who arrested the -noman said that Baikio made a statement to him, and alleged that Brown made a will leaving her everything -Baikie told him she had bought strychnine to poison cats, but Brown told her it was dangerous to have about the house. He threw it in the fire. She admitted pawning Browns rings -after his death.
