GISBORNE-MOTU RAILWAY.

NEAV SECTION TO BE OPENED TO-DAY Tho Hon. James McGowan, Minister for Mines, and the Hon. Janies Carroll,, Minister for Native Affairs, will arrive in Gisborne froth '/'Wellington this morning to open tho new section of tho Gisbome-Motu railway from Pulia to AV'aikohu. Tho opening will he only semi-official, the more important ceremony being reserved for the visit of Sir Joseph AVard to the East Coast, which will take place early in June. Tho function to-day will be open to the public,, and tho East Coast Bailway League extends an invitation to all citizens to m'ake the journey to AVaikoliu. A meeting of the East Coast Railway League was held yesterday, when the following programme for the day was arranged. The Chairman (Mr. John Townley) tho Mayor (Mr. A\ r . D. Lysn'ar) and the Hon. Captain Tucker to meet the Ministers on the arrival oi the AYaikure in the Bay. The party will be driven to tho Masonic Hotel. At 10.30 a.m. the Ministers will receive deputations in tho Cook County Council Chambers. At 12.30 the Ministers will be entertained at lunch at the Masonic Hotel. . At 1.30 p.m. the party will leave by special train for Waikohu, members of tlio East Coast Railway League and their wives being invited to occupy the carriages which will be reserved for them. . At 7.30 a public meeting will be held in tho Theatre, at which both Ministers are expected to speak, and the railway requirements of the district will ibo put before the Ministers by Messrs J. Townley, AV. D. Lysiiar (Mayor), A\ 7 . L. Rees and C. A. Do L'autour. The public are especially invited to attend as it is not often an opportunity occurs m Gisborne to hear addresses from two members of the Cabinet at one meet--111 After the -meeting the distinguished visitors will leave by the Mo'koia for Wellington, the boat being delayed to allow them to go on board.
