BURCLARY AT ORMOAOD.

Tli-AT AND FRIAR’S STORE - ENTERED.

Yot another burglary is reported from the surrounding country district. During Wednesday night some person or persons entered tho premises occupied by Messrs Teat and Friar, at Ormond, as a general store. From information to hand it appears that tho marauders entered the shop by means of the front window, which they had evidently broken for the Soso. An employee of tho firm es on the premises, but states that he heard no unusual noises during tho night. The occurrence was only discovered yesterday morning, and an examination of tho stock revealed the fact that only a number of packets of cigarettes and a quantity of coppers wore missing. The coppers were the proceeds from the sale of postage stamps. The mater was reported to Sergeant Hutton at the Police Station yesterday morning, between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Dotectivo Ilawlo at once left for the scene, and was absent all day investigating. Constable Doyle, of To Karaka, was also telegraphed for. and he joined Detective Rawle at Ormond later on in the morning. This is tho second affair of tho kind which has occurred within- a short, space of time, as-it will be remembered that only recontly Mr. Colebrook’s store at AA aerenga-a-hika- was similarly burgled. • The general impression is that the outrage is not the work of~ expert cracksmen, but rather that of irresponsible youths, and that there is really no cause for tho general feeling of anxiety which prevails in the district.
