ACCIDENT TO BATTLESHIP.
VALVE BLOWN OFF. VESSEL LISTS DANGEROUSLY. United Press Association —Copyright (Received June .11, 12.5 a.m.) LONDON, June. 10. The Kingston valve forming the blow-off of the pipe of the marine engine was blown off the battleship Irresistible, while lying at Portland Reads. The vessel began to fill rapidly, and listed dangerously to stai--board. The engines were submerged. The big guns were trained to restore an even keel. The Channel fleet sent divers to assist in placing collision mats in position. Another account states that the valves used in flooding tlie magazines refused to close after testing exercise.
