A DOMINION WELCOAIE.

Tho Alayor (Air, AY. D. Lysnar) yesterday received the following telegram from Sir Joseph 4)Yard: “lln connection with the visit of the American fleet, I shall be glad to know if your city is willing to contribute a flag or banner for exhibition in Auckland durng the week the fleet is there, the banner to bear the words “AVelcome from” with the name of the town contributing it. Tho, idea is to show that a cordial welcomoirom every part o ,f Now Zealand is extended to the visitors. I shall bo pleased to hear from you as early as possible whether you can see your way to fall in with the proposal. Kindly reply collect. I am telegraphing ail cities and boroughs throughout the Dominion to same effect.”

The Alayor consulted a number of Councillors on tlie matter, and afterwards telegraphed Sir Joseph that the Council would adopt the suggestion, and contribute a banner.
