.Tlie Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report on stock sale held at Matawhero yards on Thursday last:After an interval of a fortnight the yards wore well filled for the' tiiine of the year, ami the attendance ' was rather better than the average. Sheep: We yarded -1308 and sold 3205. Tlie demand for wethers, hoggets, and young ewes was fairly active. Old ewes were neglected both for empty and in lamb. The following represent the day’s quotations: Moggets, cull and small, Is Bd, lines of avera-go hoggets 5s to Cs lOd, whilst a good lino of 400 made 8s lOd. Empty owe 6 made from 4s 6d to Gs, according to condition, whilst forward lines of empty ewes made up to 8s 6d, and fat ewes 11s. Ewes (aged) in lamb os, for very old and low condition, better lines 7s to Bs, whilst a lino of four, six, and eighttooth made 9s, at which price they were good buying. Wethers, halfbred, 11s 6d to 11s lOd, forward wethers 12s 3d to 13s, fat wethers 15s. Cattle: We yarded 357 and sold 233. At times there was fair competition for steers, hilt all female cattle were neglected, and were difficult to place except at very low figures. The day’s prices were: Small calves 12s Gd, better lilies lip to 27s Gd, heifers (18 month) 30s, 2 years to 2) years £2 7s Gd, yearling steers £2 10s to £2 12s id, 15-month £3, 18-inonth to 2-year-olds £3 5s to £3 7s Gd, beef cows £3 10s to £4, steers £6 10s. Our next sale will be held on Thursday, 25th June, for which we shall be pleased to receive efitries. There is likely to he a continued demand for wethers and hoggets.
