ENTERTAINMENTS.

AUSTRALIAN BUCKJUAIPEItS.

Tliis combination gave their farewell performance in Gisborne to a crowded ho'use on Saturday evening. An excellent programme was submitted, and the large audience "was kept intensely interested and amused throughout the entire evening. Mr.-Jo-nes’ riders demonstrated their ability 'as crack riders, and all the effort's.of the many lively buekjumpers they bestrode . were unable to unseat them. “Jones’ men can ride,” was tlie unanimous verdict to be heard on all hands, and it was also freely acknowledged that “Jones’ horses can buck.” A great deal of interest attached to the riding of the prince of buckers, “Bobs,”’ by Mr. Jones’ crack performer. “Bobs” did his best for a few minutes, and made things merry, but early realised that lie was masterer, and refused to continue the unequal struggle to unseat a man who seemed glued to the saddle.. A clever exhibition of riding was given by Mr. A. Hensley, a local rider, who rode “Ned Kelly” in a stock saddle, and proved that he was a splendid horseman. Later on Mr. Hensley gave a capital turn of hack-to-front riding, and was warmly applauded. Uproarious laughter was caused by the efforts of the-boys to retain their seats on the blac'k calf, who deposited the youngsters on the sawdust almost as soon as they got seated. “Bucking Barney,” the donkey, also caused great amusement, and the large audience went away highly satisfied that they had been treated, to a clever and highly-diverting' evening’s entertainment.
