NUHAKA NORTH.

(Bv our Correspondent.) During the past month the showery weather has much retarded cruitching and other farm work in this district, but the rain was very mild for this season of the year, and apears to have had a beneficial effect'on the pastures, which have a spring-like appearance All kinds of stock are in a thriving condition. A new residence has just been completed for Mr. A. Smith, on his property at Morere, and, to meet the demands of his numerous customers, Mr. N._ Mclntyre is procuring building materials for tho erection of a more commodious store. New woolsheds have also been recently erected on the properties of Mrs. Austin and 10. L. Job!in, and the sawyers are now busily engaged on Dir. A. Richmlsou's farm producing the necessary timber for the purpose of building a woolshcd and a sheep-dip.; , At a meeting of the Morere District School Committee, held on Friday evening last, the members present were Messrs J. Reynolds (chairman), C. E. Stewart, W. McKain, J. Austin, and A. Smith. After some discussion, it was decided to accept Mrs. Brodio’s application to take charge of the Morere school, and the chairman was requested to wire to the secretary of tho Education Board, Napier, to that effect.

Our roads in many places are eov•red with the usual thick coat of mud. and consequently are not now suitable for wheeled traffic. The Gis-borne-Wairoa mail (heavily-laden) arrived about two hours late on Monday last.
