AGRICULTURAL LABORERS.
DEPUTATION TO MINISTER FOR LANDS. [Press Association.] INVERCARGILL, June 17, A deputation from the .Farmers’ Union , at Wyndham to-night asked the Hon. Mr. McNnb whether legislation could be introduced to take agricultural laborers out of the scope of tbo Arbitration Act. The Unionwas becoming alarmed at the demands the men were making, and compliance with them would make farming impossible. . - j; Sir. Ale Nab, in his reply, said he thought farmers were becoming needlessly alarmed. Because, -perhaps, the demands of the men were unreasonable, they must not judge the award by the magnitude of the claim. The Court certainly would not make an award that would put farming out of existence.
Tho deputation admitted that perhaps it was anticipating evil that might not -arise.
