MANGAPAPA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the above Committee was held last evening at tho residence of the Chairman (Mr. ,M. McLeod), and was attended liy Ibo Chairman and Messrs Goad, Ellery, Grundy, Smith, and Goldsmith (secretary). The Headmaster (Mr. B. Cole), in bis report stated that tlie average attendance for last month hail been 140, while tho present roll number is 106. The percentage of attendance was not as good as ho would like to see, the wet weather no doubt having a good deal to do with the falling-off. It was proposed by Mr. Ellory, seconded by Mr. Smith, that the Headmaster be asked to furnish a list each month of thoso scholars who were irregular in attendance, with a view of taking proceedings against, tlie parents. Tho Chairman said he had seen tho Inspector’s report on the school, which was one of the most satisfactory yet received, and it expressed unqualified approval of the work being done in all classes. The Secretary of tho Hawke’s Bay Education Board wrote: “That any Committee wishing to do so bo granted permission to liang copies of the Ton Commandments on the schoo' walls.” It was unanimously resolved to hang copies of tho Ten Commandments on the walls of each classroom.' Darton to alter tlie regulation in this direction, nml it respectfully begs the Board to reconsider the question and to so amend the Regulation that it may meet the wishes of the Committees who desire this alteration. The motion was secomlod by Air. Smith, and carried unanimously. It was decided t 0 hold a school concert in August to provide funds for tho purchase of ladders and see-saw for the playground, which it was agreed to procure at once. Accounts amounting to £l2 lls 7d were passed for payment,
