A PETITION TO THE HON. McNAB. •MINIST'.EIFS DIPLOMATIC REPLY. [Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, June 22. A deputation waited on the Hon. Mr. McNab as be passed-through on Saturday night and Urged the acquiring of the Aehray estate under the Land for Settlements Act for closer settlement. A petition was .presented signed- by 190 residents in the locality urging the acquisition of tlie estate. It was stated that tlie property adjoined the Culverdeiv estate on the north end. and consisted of some 12,000 or 13.000 acres, and was much better land titan Culver den. There had been an immense number of 'applicants for Culverden, and some provicion would have to be made with a view to satisfying at least some portion of tlie disappointed applicant '.
