EDENDALE SHOOTING CASE

Particuhtars regarding the shooting case at Edeiula-Ie show that -Stott had been drinking, and- was a friend of Brown, the father of the girl. On Saturday night, at 6 o’clock, Stott returned to Edendale, -and went to Brown’s -house. iMaryßrow-n induced Miim to go away, but lie returned between 9 and 1() o’clock, -and knocked at the door, w-liioh Miss Brown opened, He threatened to shoot the whole family. He had- a gun. He said to the young woman. “You are the one I want to shoot.” She ran into the -bedroom, and when she Was closing the door Stott fired at close range, the shot going through the door, taking effect in, the left shoulder. Miss Brown cried- out, “You -brute, you have shot me.” The rteply was, “That is what I wanted to do.” The. women went to a neighbor’s. When the doctor arrived Miss Brown was weak from loss of blood. Stott was arrested at 2 -in the morning, -being then/ in bed. When told that -he had shot Miss Brown, he replied, “If I did ,1 am very sorry.” Stott was brought before the Court and remanded.
