A STRANGE BLANK.
OLD LADY’S PITIABLE PLIGHT. UTTER LOSS OF MEMORY. [Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, June 23. Frail and tottering, a. little old lady leant against the fence surrounding the Cathedral this morning, but having forgotten her name coultl not answer the inquiries of a police eorgeant and a constable. The actions of the old lady, who,' it appears, had been waiting about the ■aiavomeut practically all the morning, ■’attracted the attention of a young Jady, who communicated with Sergeant Brookes. The sergeant and a constable then plied the old dame (with queries as to her identity and address, but her memory was apparently a perfect blank. .She said she ■ was 87 years of age, and spojip ot the ship in which she came out to Hew Zealand in 1878.
