KIA KAUA 1 V. CITY 0. From the Imlly-off this game was very last and interesting, neither team having the better oi it. Both sides attacked well, and looked like scoring several times, but tlio defence of . each team was solid. Bright and Grieve played hard to score for the Kias, but the City backs, Armstrong and Doyle/ .saved for their side several times. Corbett, Day, and Bull tried hard to get- first blood, but the Kia Kalla backs, Garrett and Pettio, I'fustratud their attempts. Kniblis bad a good shot at goal, but the hall went outside tlio not. At the end of the first spell there was no score. WEST END 2 V. TE lIAU 1. This game as expected was liardi'ought from start to finish, and from the bully-off the ball went up and down the field, showing that things were very lively, and that each team was bent on being victorious. After some good passing Pine got the ball in West End’s circle when he promptly'shot it into the net. After the next bully, Hooper, with some fast play, took the ball into Te Rail’s circle, but Baker with a nice hit sent the ball out of dangerous territory. From a line hit Roderick shot a goal. West End followed up tlieir success, and soon afterwards Hooper gftfc another goal. Cockerill, Davy, and Pine took the ball well into West End’s twenty-five, but Olsen and Roderick broke up tlieir combination, and prevented them doing any damage. MeLachlan, Malloy, and Nasmith attempted to get through the defence of Davy and Brown, but these two badcs proved too solid. First spell-r-AVcst End 2, To Ran 1. In tiie second spell the Te Rails worked hard to equal the score, Rejvai, Fox, and Clarke especially working hard; lint the opposing hacks were too solid and sent the ball down the field again. Cramp took flic ball into Te Rail’s ground, and looked like scoring, hut their goal-1 cooper saved. No further score resulted. Mr. Armstrong reforLADIES’. TEAM FOR NAPIER. It is the intention of the Gisborne Ladies’ Hockey Club to send a team to Hawke’s Bay, leaving here on July L9th. Three matches will be played, one against a Hastings club, and one each against two Napier clubs. The following team has been chosen to represent the Club on tlie tour: S. Sawyer, D. Osborne,-]).
