COMMUNAL FARMS.
RECOMMENDED BY NATIVE LAND COMMISSION. A MAORI AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE. [Press Association.] AUCKLAND, June 26. As a result of its recent session, the Native Land Commission has recommended that communal farms should be set -asido for the education of the young Aluorie in agriculture. Sir Robert Stout, President of the Commission, states that, the latter) body has (recommended the Rotorua Alaoris.to take up'agriculture and, as a result, tho Ng-atiwhakune tribe has decided to- set apart IOUU acres .or an agricultural, college.
A 1 r. Monfries, on behalf of the Presbyterian Mission, has intimated that that organisation would be willing to appoint him manager of such a college to appoint other instructors and to.erect a building if some term of occupation was fixed. Air. Alonfries has also said the land would remain'Maori property, and any profits would go to the owners. The college will be -undenominational, and the Anglican clergyman and one of ths leading chiefs (a Roman Catholic) are •agreeable to the proposals. ' The Commission has made a report to the Government, and this will probably be disclosed when Parliament meets.
