HORSE SALES
■Messrs Williams and Kettle, Ltd., yarded about 55 horses of various sorts at their weekly horse sale at Wyllio’s horse bazaar on Saturday. There was a poor demand for hacks, most of those offering being passed in: A nice mare brought £ls) ordinary hacks from £3 to £7, .inferior sorts from £1 to £2 10s. A pair of medium draughts brought £SO. A two-year-old filly by Strowan was offered, but as no suitable bid was forthcoming was withdrawn. On account of the Britain and Poverty Bay football match, no sale will be held next Saturday. MARKETS. Messrs F. S. Malcolm and Co. report the following pricos realised at their auction sale of produce on Saturday :—Roosters. Is lid to 4s, bantams Is, bens Is 9d to 2s lOd, ducks Is lOd to 2s, butter lOd, potatoes (best Southern) 11s to 12s per sack, others 8s to 10s per sack, onions ljd per lb., vegetables at the usual quotations.
Messrs Miller and Craig report tho following prices .at their produco sales on Saturday: —Roosters Is 3d to 2s 3d, drakes 15.9(1, eggs Is Gd to Is 7d doz., butter lid to Is, pumpkins 3s 6d to 4s sack, marrows Is Gd doz., carrots and parsnips Os 4d sack, onions 13d lb., human is 13d lb., beetioot Is Gd to 2s 3d bag, cabbage 2s 3d to 2s 6d doz., leeks 2d bundle, Swedes 2s 3d bag, carrots 2s doz. bundles, lemons 5d doz., citron melons Gd each, celery 2s doz., parsnips 2s 6d doz., bananas 5s case, apples Gs to 7s 6d case. There was an exceptionally 1 large ontry of eggs.

AUCKLAND, Juno 27. The return from tho AVailii gold mine for the four weeks ended June 13 shows that the amount of bullion won from 31,366 tone-or ore was valued at £71,271. The mine has now produced bullion of a total value of £6,700,023, and distributed dividends, etc., to shareholders of £3,087,384.
Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Ltd., report on the Matawhero stock sale held on Thursday, 25th hist, as follows:
Tho attendance was fair, and the yardings rather better than have jecn experienced during past years for the season’s sale! SHEEP.
Our yarding comprised 2092, of which we sold 1824. The sheep were not, oil: tho whole, too good a lot, comprising a considerable number of aged ewes. Prices for wethers and hoggets slightly advanced, and there was a considerable demand which have sold a far larger entry of both the,so descriptions. Our day’s quotations wore:—Cull ewes, old and low in condition, 2s 6d to 5s 6d; better lines 7b 3d to 8s 3d, whilst we obtained 10s 6d for a nice line of aged ewes in lamb to Shropshire rams. Empty ewes, fat and forward, made 9s 6d to 10s Od; small 2-tooth ewes, 7s 3d to 8s Id; hoggets 9s Bd—fair average line; wethers 12s 7d to 14s 3d. according to size and condition. CATTLE. We yarded .165, and sold 158 under fair competition. Fat steers, small and not too well finished, made £4 os to £5 10s; fairly good bullocks, £7 to £7 10s; calves 17s Gd: dairy cows £2 12s 6d to £3 10s; yearling steers 29s ; eighteen months £3 ; twoyear .olds £3 Ids; grown steers £4 7s Gil to £5 2s 6d. Owing to the Steeplechase Race 'Meeting coming upon our next fortnightly period, the sale will not he held until Thursday. July 15. For this fixture we shall be pleased to receive entries.
