ROWING.

POVERTY BAY ROWING CLUB. A meeting of the Poverty Bay Rowing Club’s Building Committee was held last evening, when the plans of the new boatslied, drawn by Mr. P. H. Graham, were submitted and approved of. The proposed building will have two storeys ,with a balcony overlooking the river. The ground floor measures about 64ft by 30ft, and has been specially designed for the accommodation of the club’s, racing boats. The rear portion of the ground floor will be partitioned off as a dressing room, and will contain lockers for the use of the members. A small room with a shower bath is also to be provided. In front of the, building will be two pair of sliding doors leading out on to a large staging, to which a floating pontoon will be hinged to facilitate the launching of the boats at either high or low tide. The upper floor will contain a social hall* about 50ft by 30 ft, at the rear of which there will be two' rooms to bo used as reading room and secretary’s room. Between tlio above rooms will be a vestibule leading through an archway into the hall. The floor of the hall is to be specially constructed of 4in. matai flooring for dancing. Overlooking the water will be a balcony, which will be connected with the ha’ll by casement doors. The whole building will. be substantially constructed, and will on completion be an ornament to the riverside. . It was also decided at tlio meeting to approach the Harbor Board with n view of obtaining permission to erect the shed on the Kaiti side of the Waimata river, opposite tlio Band. Rotunda. If permission is granted ; it would probably encourage rowing, and thus bring it more 'before the public than it has been in the past. In order to raise funds for the building of the shod, the club has been holding a aeries of dances during the winter months, tlio next of which will be held next Thursday evening, when a light supper will be provided and dancing will bo held from 8 till 1.
