The New Zealand Alliance lias received a cable stating that North Carolina lias carried prohibition by fifty thousand votes. DUNEDIN, July 21. In the event of Mr, Laureiison’s Bare Majority Bill coming before Parliament, ■ the Otago and Southland Licensed Victuallers’ Association intend having a new clause proposed raising (lie age at which liquor should be supplied to 21; that wherever nolicense is carried no liquor shall he permitted in the district: that wherever liquor is discovered in a nolicense district such persons should he punishable by fine and imprisonment.
