Sergeant-Major Williams returned South by tlie s.s. Moana last night. Constable Pratt left for South last night in charge of two prisoners— Symons,' who has been committed for trial for attempted murder, and a man for Invercargill. TliO Rev. F. W. .Mr. D. Dustin, of Wanganui, arrived from South yesterday morning in connection with the transfer of the local branch of his business to Mr. Clare, of Palmerston North. Judge Jones, of the Native Land Court, left for Wellington on official business last evening. Mr. anil Mrs. Albert Maillineon arrived by the Moan a from Auckland yesterday, 'and are staying at the Masonic Hotel. Mr. I>. E. Dustin left for Palmerston North by flic s.s. Moaua last evening. A large number of friends were on the wharf to'see him off. A meeting of the Master Bakers’ Association, of which Mr. Dustin lias been President since its inception, was hold yesterday to bid him farewell. Mr. A. P. Hailey occupied the chair, and those .present expressed regret at thoir first President’s- departure from the town, and wished liini every success in Manawytii. ' The captain of the Poverty Bay Bowing Club (Mr. W. Webb)," the deputy-captain (Mr. S. Ledger), and tile secretary (Mr. F .E. Porter) also met Mr. Dustin on the wharf before the launch left, and on behalf of the members of the Club presented him with a set of silvermounted brushes and comb, in a morocco case, suitably engraved, and assured Mr. Dustin of their regret at his departure, and spoke of the friendly feeling that had always existed between the two Bowing Clubs of the town. Mr. Dustin said lie would.always remember tile members of the Club; and thanked them for their handsome present.
