A RAILWAY FATALITY.
AN UNKNOWN MAN KILLED. [Pres( Association.] WELLINGTON, August 13. A man, whose remains have not been identified, was killed at the Esplanade crossing, Thorndon, by tho Manawatu train that left the city for Paekakariki at 6.20 this evening. It is not known how the accident happened. The head of the deceased wa6 found about ten yards from the crossing, and the body fifty yards further on. Various portions of deceased’s , clothing wero scattered on both sides of tlio line. The right arm was pulled from tho socket, and the left arm broken, andthe rails for nearly one hundredyards were spattered with bloodDeceased appears to have been working mail, between 40 and 5Q years of age. The hands are oily, and the clothes greasy, hut whether by reason of his occupation or through entanglement with the engine is not known. One woman who saw tho remains to-night thinks they may bo that of her husband.
