NAPIER, August 18. The Hawke’s Buy-Povorty Bay match was played on Cornwall 1 ark, Hastings, on ■ Monday. Hawke s Bay had the best of tho first spell, syor■uiir one goal. In tho second hall thev scored again shortly after tho start. Poverty Bay livened up ami shot two goals in quick succession, Armstrong and Bright .finding the net. Time was called with Poverty Bay attacking strongly. For HawIce’s Bay Johnson, Taylor, Hnlleni, and Timmins wore the best. For Poverty Bay Armstrong, Roderick, and Dovlo were the pick. The Poverty Bay Hockey team played Hastings to-day. The visitors attacked from the bully-ofl, hut over-eagerness on the part ol the forwards prevented any score. Hustings rallied, and scored. Poverty Bav attacked again, Bright shootnij? a goal. Half-time was called with the score one all. Shortly after the start of tlio second spell Hastings again scored. Give-and-take play followed. From a good pass by Armstrong Poverty Bay scored a second - r oul, and time was called with the score two all. For Hastings Anderson and Martis were the best; while Armstrong, Dovlo, and McLean were the pick of tho Poverty Bay 'team. SCHOOL GIRLS' TEAM. [Special to “Times.”] NAPIER, August 18 The Gisborne High School girls’ term beat the Napier District School by one goal, scored by Ivy Parker, to nil. The Gisborne girls were off color at first, but soon got to work. They play the High School to-day, and journey to Hastings to-morrrow to play two matches there. A GISBORNE WIN.
