After the reception, a procession, headed by tho fleet bauds and led by the Lord Mayor and aldermen, followed by tho admirals and staffs’ carriages, leaving tho ..Domain by the Bent Street gates, proceeded via. Macquairre, College, Park, Elizabeth, Bathurst, .and George Streets. Martin Place, Pitt Bridge, and Macquairo Street to Mrs. Macquarrie’s Point Domain, whore the officers and men were entertained at a picnic. Tho route of tho streets was elaborately dccorated, notably Macquarrio Street, Martin Place, Citizens’ Avenue, Park Street, American Avenue, Pitt Street. Thousands of flags, the Stars and Stripes predominating, fluttered everywhere, and strung from the side streets, with flags interspersed, and shields and other emblematic designs, were mottoes and greetings in greenery. Martin Place was a blaze of color. Tho tall white plaster columns that flank each side were capped with golden eagles and crowns, long streamers of many-col-ored drapery roofing tho street over, tho wreathing greenery giving a finishing effect. Alacquarrie Street provided a splendid picture, the interweaving of brilliant coloring and greneery, and tho gleaming white columns producing fine artistic effects. The procession of such a large body of tlie visitors with rifles on shoulder, their smart appearanco and splendid discipline raised enthusiasm, to concert pitch, and the tramp of marching feet was constantly punctuated and drowned by rolling bursts of cheering, as they threaded through the sea of people, who were packed from end to end of the long route. Bands were stationed at various points and discoursed music. .The people fully entered into the spirit of the welcome, and everywhere there wis enthusiasm, good humor, and camaraderie.
