SYDNEY, August 27. Several thousand people witnessed the departure the the fleet, - which ■, presented an imposing spectacle at it passed in close single file formation np the harbor and through, the Heads. Pilots were engaged to bring the fleet in, but their services were dispensed with oil leaving. About 300 stragglers over-staved their leave and were left behind. Up to to-night most of the stragglers had turned up, and had been placed aboard the transport Yankton, to be taken on to Melbourne. A number expressed their intention of going overland to Melbourne, seeing the fun there before rejoining their ships and then taking their gruel.
