Unfortunately some miscreants entered the boatshed some little time, ago, during the closed season, and wilfully caused tho destruction of one of tho single sculls, which is now beyond repair. Although endeavors were made no information could be gathered sufficient to enable the committee to take action in tho matter. Tho committee have decided to hold a ball on tho 18th of this month, with the object of supplementing the Club’s finances. The thanks of tlio committee are due to tho members for the very able assistance given whenever necessary during tho season. Your committee extends a hearty welcomo to the incoming committee, and wishes them every success. He aroused the enthusiasm of tho meeting by producing a set of solid silver cups for competition amongst trial fours. ■On the motion of Air. Grieve, seconded by Air. Kennedy, it was decided to insert advertisements in the papers for the purpose of getting now members for the Club. Mr. C. AV. Aluir proposed tliat it be a recommendation to the committee to have the shed painted and partitioned for the purpose of making better provision for the keeping of the racing boats. The motion was carried, being seconded by Dr. Schumacher, who generously offered a handsome donation towards the cost of the partitioning work. Several small improvements in the shed were discussed, and it was decided that he advised to have the bye-laws of the Club more strictly adhered to Ify tlio members. Considerable discussion took place regarding the selection of crews, and it was finally decided that the committee bo instructed to select the strokes, who will then pick their crews by ballot. "The question of an official opening of the season was left in the hands ot the committee, who will confer with the representatives of the Poverty Bay shed on the matter.
