Tlio annual- general meeting of the Poverty Bay Rowing Club was held last night in the Albion Hotel. Mr. J. Welib, captain of the Club, occupied the chair, -and there was a. large arid enthusiastic attendance of members. , The hon. secretary (Mr. A. Kirk) having -read the minutes of the* last meeting, the -annual -report and bal-ance-sheet- were read and adopted, on tlio motion of Mr. AY. Eraser, seconded by Mr. AY. Robertson. Air. If. J. Grieve -anil Air. J. AYebb expressed appreciation of the position of the Club as shown by the' report. The report-, which Wis -a lengthy one, showed the- Club to he in the best position it lias- yet achieved -in its history. The year’s operations were commenced with a debit of £o7 Its Gd, and not alone bail this been wiped olf, but there was n credit balance -to date ol £8 2s 9il. The ’ total amount of assets over liabilities was shown to be £209 2s Dil. The report further expressed the thanks of the Club to the donators of trophies -and funds during tho year and referred to the now bouts which are shortly oxpected to arrive in Gisborne. The secreta.ry of the Union Rowing Club, Napier, wrote asking the Club to send .representatives to Napier a-t Easter for -racing purposes.—After discussion, it was decided that tho invitation be -accepted. . A unanimous -and hearty vote of thanks was passed to Alessrs Sheridan, Sawyer, and Dan-ton for gnpjmrtmg the application of the Club to tbe Borough: Council for a site for the new shed. Sixteen new members were elected, and Mr. A. AAL Kirk was elected a life-member of the Club. A r otes of thanks to the outgoing officers, the press, and to Mr. F. Harris for tho. use of his rooms, concluded the meeting. HOCKEY. Yesterday afternoon tho lion, secretary of the Poverty Bay Hockey Association received a telegram from the Hawke’s Bay Association, intimating that they wore unable to play a match with Poverty Bay this season. The game, therefore, which bail been arranged for next Saturday will not now take place. The Rata Ladies’ Hockey Club will be represented in their match against the Gisborne Ladies’ Club to-morrow by the following players: Misses Delia u tour (2), D. Bull, Goffe (2), A. Tolley, K. Slierraitt-, M. Brodrick, M. Wachsm-ann, AI. AVilson, and E. Alatthews. POVERTY BAY ASSOCIATION. The weekly meeting of the Poverty Bay Hockey Association was held in the Royal Hotel last -night.
