QUESTIONS TO CANDIDATES. [Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Sept. 15. In acordanco with a resolution passed a t the Fanners’ Union Coferciico, a circular lias been issued to branches containing questions to be put to Parliamentary candidates. They are to be asked’ to support, irrespective of party, .the following platform: (1) To give Crown tenants the statutory right to acquire the freehold after the conditions as to residence and improvements are complied with, at a value to ho computed aetuarially, so 'that- any rebate or rent paid less than 5 per cent paid by an o.r.p. tenant be capitalised and added to the original value of the land; (2) that in respect to all Crown lands opened successful applicants have the option of any tenure provided therein ; (3) that taxation through’ the Customs he raised for the purpose of revenue only; (4) that only ratepayers have a vote on local government matters, counties, road boards, and rural districts, and that tho present franchise he maintained; (5) to resist any further attemnt to nationalise the means of production, distribution, and exchange. Branches are given discretion to ask candidates if they will vote for the repeal of tlio nresent Conciliation and Arbitration Act, against a Referendum Bill, and for tho discontinuance of co-operative woi’ks. WAKATIPU SEAT. [Press Association.] GOIIE, Sept. 15. Ma - . Andrew Martin, J.P., till recently proprietor of the “Gore Standard,” and who has been nil active figure in party politics in Gore for many years, has been selected'as Government nominee to contest the Wakatipai seat.
