Yesterday afternoon Mr. Francis Honan, surveyor, was married at St-. Mary’s ltoman Catholic Church to Miss Sarah Parker, daughter of Mr. C. J. Parker, of Makaraka. The Iter. Father Lane officiated, and the bride was given away by her father. The bridesmaids were Miss A. Parker and Miss F. Honan. Mr. H. Burns acted as best 1 man, and Mr. R. H. Parker as groomsman. The wedding breakfast was laid at the residence of the bride’s parents, a large number of guests being entertained. The happy couple left to spend the honeymoon in. the south, by the Mokoia, last evening. Messrs Vita Bros.’ orchestra played the “'Wedding March” from “Lohengrin” as the couple left the church. Mr. and Mrs. T. Holden, "Waimata, arrived home yesterday after a long stay at Rotorua. His Honor Mr. Justice Edwards arrived from Auckland by the Mokoia ■last evening. The employees of Messrs Lord and Holdsworth, builders', met on Tuesday aftorlnoon and presented Mr. T. A. Holdsworth, who intends to leave for Australia next' week, with a travelling companion. Mr. Holdsworth, in accepting the gift, thanked the employees for their good wishes for his future. Mr. E. W. Christmas) the wellknown Australian artist, arrived in Gisborne yesterday. The death occurred on Sunday at Hastings of Mrs. Elizabeth Broadfield, the wife of Thomas Broadfield. a veteran l of the Imperial Army, who was through the Crimean 'War, saw the end of the Indian Mutiny, and then came out to New Zealand with big regiment in 1861. Mrs. Broadfield was born in Kent in 3845, and came out in 1848 to New Zealand with her father, who was a sergeant in the 65tli_ Regiment, tlien stationed at "Wellington.
