FIGHT TO A FINISH.

BURNS V. JOHNSON. THE CONTRACT SIGNED. United Press Association. Copyright (Received Sept. 17, 11.25 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 17. Johnson, lias signed a contract for a fight with Burns to a finish in Australia after the 30th of November. The purse is £7OOO, the winner taking 60 per cent and the loser 40 per cent. Interviewed by a Melbourne pressman recently Tommy Burns said:— “I particularly want to meet Johnson and get out of the boxing game for ever. I want to meet Johnson, firstly, to make it plain that I draw no color-line, nor bar any man in the world; and secondly, tq establish my own opinion, that I am Johnson’s superior; "and, thirdly, to quit the game as champion of the world. If .Johuson refuses to meet me, then I will retire for good and all, for the match with him is the only one I desire. There could be no better time and place than Melbourne at ‘Cup’ week. I hope, to hear by the reply to the cables sent on Saturday that Johnson has managed to nerve himself up to accept the lucrative offers made him to sample my ability. When I quit the professional ring I will settle in Australia, at least for some years. I know of no better place outside of America.”
