Tenders aro being called for tho erection of a now building for the Gisborne branch of the Bunk of Now South Wales. Tho structure, which is to be of two storeys, will be erected on the corner of Gladstone Road and Peel Stret, on tho site at present occupied by Afessrs Primrose and Leslie and others, and will have frontage to Gladstone Road of 48ft and' to Peel Street of 61ft Bin.
A meeting of Air. Geo. E. Darton’s political supporters was held last evening, when there was a largo at. tendance. It was decided to hold weekly meetings, until the election, and a. sub-coinniitteo was appointed to arrange for political addresses throughout tho electorate. A general meeting, will he held nt 8 p.m. on Saturday next, at Townley s Hall, to arrange details of campaign for the coming election.
The practical examinations of Trinity College of Afusic were conducted yesterday by Air. H. St. George. All the candidates were successful. The following are tlie results: —Altos Liddell’s pupils: Gertrude Parker 76, Olive Spence 73. Air. Ellis’ pupils: Lizzie Ellis 87, Richard Ward 70. Mr. C. East’s pupils: Lilian Brooking 80, Mary Alortloman 67. At the conclusion Air. St. George gave m delightful piano and violin recital to the candidates and several others who attended. The piano used was a Spencer, of which the examiner sP°ke very highly. AH arrangements have been completed for the Gisborne Private Band’s plain, S.incy dress, and poster ball to he held in His Alajesty’s Theatre this evonnig. Numbers will be worn by. tho dancers in fancy dress aiid poster costume for tho convenience_of the spectators in recording their votes. His Worship the Alayor (Air. W. D.
