It is very evident (writes the Wairarapa correspondent of the" "‘’"Dominion”) that the new dairy regulations will he vigorously opposed by nearly all sections of tho farming communities interested if tho Government demands, that they should be put into operation immediately following the passing of tho proposed Act. Nobody goes so far as to say that the regulations are not needed, but farmers urge that their consummation should extend over a number of yearn. The main objection to: the immediate operation of the Act is the expense whicih would he caused hy tine removal of buildings and the construction of the concrete works. There are thousands of dairy farmers in the Dominion who cannot spare the money at present for these- inew works, and it seems hardly possible that the Government will attempt to put the Act rigidly into immediate operation. It is very plain that_ if the State did' enter upon such an injudicious course, the outcry would bo so great tliat the- enforcement of the Act would speedily become difficult.
