MATAWHERO STOCK SALES. The usual fortnightly stock sales held at Matawhero yesterday were largely attended, and the yardings wero larger than usual. There was a large entry of cattle, and the wether pens were wqII filled. Fat sheep and rat cattle sold well, and there was a strong demand for sheep and lambs. SHEEP. About 5000 sheep were yarded, and most of the pens were quitted at auction. Wethers sold to I7s Id, and ewes witli lamb to 18s. The following were the leading pens:22 fat wethers 17s Id, 22 at 10s ikl, and 0 at 15s 9d, 20 fat ewes 12s 6d, 5 at 14s 3d, and 0 at 13s 7d, 310 store wethers lls, 50 at 13s, and 30 well-grown wether hoggets nt 13s 9d, BO ewes with 31 lambs 18s, 30 ewes with 18 lambs 10s. CATTLE. There were about 800 cattle on offer, all the pens selling at satisfactory juices. Two beef bullocks sold at- £7, 2 at £5 os, 2 at. £6 2s, 4 beef cows at £0 12s Gd, and 4 empty cows -at £5 os. PIGS. There was a very large entry, the following prices being obtained : o weaners 15s, 1 burrow and 2 sows 22s Gd, 2 pigs 335, 5 weaners 15s, 3 pigs £l, 3 ditto 225, 2 small pigs 19s, 7 weaners &s Gd.
