an old man charged. [Pjiksb Association.] AUCKLAND, Sept 24. William Francis Wilkinson, the old ■man accused of having stolon the 'i’aupii'i mail hag of the 7th inst., this morning pleaded not guilty to the charge. Tho Dig disappeared between the General Pont Oflice and the Auckland railway station, filfeen TV alien to mail bags being counted out at the post office and only fourteen loaded on to tho train. Subsequently the empty bag was found in tho vicinity of the station, while next duy AVI Iki n soil was selling considerable quantities of stamps, of .winch • the looted bag held £l2 worth. Accused was committed for trial, bail being fixed at two sureties each of £*>o and his own recognisance of £IOO.
