HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.
MONTHLY AIEETIN G. Thu usual monthly meeting of tho Hospital Trustees was held last night in the Council Chambers. Present : Alessr.s J. AV. Bright (chairman), R. Shenatt, A. Fordo Alattlicws, E. H. Alan li, and AV. D. S. Alacdonald. The minutes of the previous meeting wore road anti confirmed. Afr. G. G. Piesso wrote stating that ho was instructed by the directors of tlio Gisborne Co-ojicrativo Bakery Co., Ltd., to inform them that they had in their private capacity subscribed for a shanJ in tlie companym the name of the Trustees, that the share would lie issued to them fully paid up, their desire being to make a present to the hospital in this way to enable the hospital to receive a bonus on all purchases from Hie company'. Reference was also mudo in tlio letter to the tendering for tho delivery of bread to the hospital, and it was stated that the directors could not sec their way to tender, as shareholders might complain -if bread wero sold lower than the price charged to them. It was, however, pointed out that any purchases made would entitle the hospital to receive their supnlies at net cost.—lt was decided that the letter bo received, ancl-rthe secretary write thanking*tho directors of the company. Dr. ALilintino wrote enclosing the annual reports of Hospital and Charitable Aid Boards in the Dominion.— Received.
The treasurer’s report was received, and showed that tho receipts were £176 13s, expenditure £650 0s lid, leaving a balance of £473 7s lid. The chairman reported that he had visited the hospital several times during tho last month and found everything satisfactory. The water supply had been fixed up, and had cost much- less than had been anticipated. Tlie monthly report was read, as follows: Patients remaining in the hospital 37, admitted 29, total patients treated 66; discharged 30, died o, patients at present in hospital 31.
The following tenders were accepted for the hospital supplies: AA’ood (titoki), AV. C. Brown, £1 8s per cord; coal, Westport Coal Company, £1 16s 6d; bread, J. Erskine, 3]d; butter, J. Erskine, Is lb; milk. H. AVilson, lid -gallon; groceries, Bennett and Slierratt (principal items), £2ll 19s. Some discussion took place regarding the annual Hospital Social, and it was suggested that the social bo held in the Drill Hall early in November.—lt was resolved to call a public meeting in connection with the social.
Alessrs Alann and Dewing were appointed the visiting committee for tlie ensuing month, with the chairman cx officio. A notice of motion in Air. E. H. Mann’s name, “That Aliss AlcLean’s report be adopted, and tlie- bv-laws altered in accordance therewith,” was mentioned ; and. Air. Alann was granted leave to postpone his motion on account of the small number of members present at the meeting. A number of accounts wero passed for payment, and tlie meeting concluded.
