HOKITIKA, Sept. 2G. Tlie hearing of the evidence in the Westport perjury case was concluded to-day, when Police-Inspector Black and the accused (Connolly) were under examination. The .titter, under .-icvere icros's-exa mi nation by Air. Hardman, leading counsel for the prosecution, admitted to having told at the Nelson trial seven distinct lies. - ; Mr. Justice Cooper, at tho conclusion of the evidence, remarked that this was the most extraordinary trial that has even taken place in the colony, being so full of contradiction.
Counsel will address the jury on Monday, and the judge’s summing up takes place on Tuesday.
