The final of the Auckland Golf Club’s championship was played at One Tree Hill links yesterday, over a 36-hole course, when Heather beat Col beck by 2 up and 1 to play.
NEW ZEALAND AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP.

DUNEDIN, Sept. 26. The final of the New Zealand amateur' golf championship was played to-day, and was won by H. C. Smith (Otago, who heat Lusk by _3 up and 1- to nla.y, after an interesting game. The final of the medal handicap, in connection with the second qualifying round of the championship, was also played, and was won by C. Iv. Sams (Christchurch), with a score of 8S net.

DUNEDIN, Sept. 27. At tho annual meeting of the New Zealand Golf Council, tho statement of receipts and expenditure showed a very satisfactory financial position. It was renorted that- the following clubs had affiliated during the year: Lawrence, Gore, Wavcrley, Iyimbolton, Balclutha (men’s clubs); iSt. Clair. Invercargill, Westport, Greymouth, Hagley (ladies’ clubs). It was decided that the championship of 1909 be played at Auckland, the open championship to be one of the events. It was also decided that the next amateur championship he open to all amateurs who are members of recognised golf clubs.
