ROWING.
At a meeting of the committees of the Poverty Bay and Gisborne Rowing Clubs, it. was decided that the official opening of the season should take place on Thursday, when it is pro(>osed to have a procession on the river in tho following order: Band, Harbor Board launch, private launches, fours (6), double sculls (2). single sculls (3), private boats of all kinds to be invited to attend. Tlio boats assemble at the shed at 2 p.m., and proceed in single file to tho end of tlio wharf, returning in double file to Harris’ Bend, and thence to band rotunda, where the season will be declared open by the Mayor, and the naming of the Gisborne Rowing Club’s throe fours, “IVainui,” “AYaihora,” and “Waikoliu,” will take place. The following races will then be held: Senior inter-club fours, inter-club double sculls, inter-club veterans’ fours, dingey races (allcomers, boys under 21, for trophies presented by the committee), single sculls, married v. single fours, two members from each club in each boat-.
