GISBORNE SWIMMING CLUB
GENERAL AIEETING
A general meeting of the above club was held at the* Gisborne District High Soliool last evening, Air. A. F. Kennedy presiding. The provisional committee submitted a clraft of the rules of the Club, which were read by the acting-secre-tary, and adopted after alteration of the age defining junior members had been raised from 16 to 18 years. The -rules provided that the colors of the Club shall he -navy blue bound with white. The captain, or in liis absence tlio deputy-captain, shaJl have entire control of the hath, one of liis chief duties being to instruct non.-proficient members. The Club shall bo open to lady members, who shall have exclusive hours to bo set apart. All new members sliall be elected by committee only, one adverse vote in three to exclude. Persons residing outside a radius of five miles from the bath may be elected country members, and shall be liable to pay an annual subscription of 5s for seniors, and 2s 6d for ladies and juniors under 18 years. The annual subscriptions shall be: For seniors 10s 6cl, ladies ss, and juniors under 18 years ss, all subscriptions to be payable,., in advance. The season shall commenco on tlio Ist of September and end oii_tlie 31st of Alay in each year. The bath shall be open to members from 6 to 8 a.m., and from 5 to 8 p.m. on week days; from 6 to 9 a.m., and from 1 to 8 p.m. on. Saturdays and public holidays on which the school is closed; and from 7 to 10 a.m. on Sundays. Alembers while in or about the bath must wear bathing drawers or trunks, Club colors being imperative. Tho election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Air. C. A. De"Lautour; vice-presidents, Messrs A. F. Kennedy, D. J. Barry, A. Hutchinson, J. Townlcy, E.-Murphy, and F. Barker; tlie election of captain and deputy-captain was, deferred until a later meeting; lion, secretary, Mr. 0. R. Olsen; hon. treasurer, Air. H. Alillor; committee, Alessrs F. J. Rowley, J. S. AAffiuchop, J. Al. Curtis, C. J. Hamilton, and J. Colley; auditors, Alessrs L. B. Sherriff and H. E. Dodd.
It was decided to open the season on October 24th, when no charge would he made for admission, but collection boxes would be placed in conspicuous places in the bathrooms to enable all desirous of contributing to tlie funds of the Club to do so. The committee were instructed to draw up a programme for opening day. . . It was decided to affiliaie with the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association. Air. H. Aliller intimated that lie would donate a trophy for opening day for any event the committee might decide to allot it. Over a hundred new members were proposed for election during the evening.
